Putting aside any doubts over the veracity of this news, this is not a “Fuck yeah, America!” moment. This changes nothing. It does not vindicate us being involved in Afghanistan and Iraq. It’s not going to end these wars, end all the violence and bloodshed on both sides. Osama hasn’t been relevant to the fight in years. NOTHING HAS CHANGED. I am glad that maybe his death has brought closure for some people, but this is not the end of anything. The cheering and the celebrating make me feel uneasy.

That said, Obama’s reelection is all but guaranteed now.
